Our mission is the defense of workers affected by companies’ abuse and misconduct, with a focus on China and Chinese companies. We are cited by the media, government, and NGOs as the foremost authority on Chinese labor rights issues. Since our founding, CLW has collaborated with the media, human right and labor organizations to monitor workers’ conditions in and outside of China. Description: China Labor Watch (CLW) is seeking candidates to assist in project research, financial management, and administrative tasks. The incumbent will work closely with CLW personnel, contributing to project development, conducting interviews, engaging with laborers, advocating in China, and managing office duties as necessary. Key Responsibilities: Administrative Duties: Manage daily office operations, including answering phone calls, processing emails, and organizing documents. Assist in scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and recording meeting minutes. Facilitate internal and external communication and coordination. Oversee the management and procurement of office equipment and supplies. Administer employee attendance and payroll calculations. Support project management activities. Aid in organizing company events and providing other administrative support as needed. Perform translation between Chinese and English as required. Financial Accounting: Perform daily financial data entry and bookkeeping tasks. Prepare and manage budgets. Qualifications: Education: Associate degree or above, preferably in Administration, Financial Management, Accounting, or a related field. Experience: Over one year of experience as an administrative assistant or in a related financial role is preferred. Skills: Proficient in office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Asana), with familiarity in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks) preferred. Language Requirements: Must be proficient in reading and writing both Chinese and English. Abilities: Strong communication and coordination skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Traits: Excellent team spirit and service orientation, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Compensation: Hourly rate of $16-$30, depending on experience. As a small but highly impactful team, every member plays a crucial role. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in labor rights research, nonprofit management, and international advocacy. Position Overview Due to project development and fundraising needs, China Labor Watch is seeking a Fundraising and Project Administrative Assistant under a short-term contract till December 2025. The contract may be renewed depending on future project funding and organizational needs. This role primarily involves assisting with fundraising efforts, supporting project implementation , and handling administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities Research potential funders, including foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources; Assist in communicating with existing funders and organizing feedback materials; Monitor and evaluate the progress and outcomes of ongoing projects; Support project implementation, including organizing data and tracking progress; Assist with daily administrative tasks such as document filing, meeting scheduling, and expense reimbursements; Support internal coordination within the team and external communications with stakeholders . Qualifications Bachelor's degree or above in any field of study; At least two years of relevant work experience (e.g., fundraising, project support, public relations, administrative assistance); Fluency in both Chinese and English (spoken and written); ability to independently handle bilingual work documents and communications; Strong writing skills and basic research and analysis skills; Highly responsible, detail-oriented, and able to efficiently manage multiple tasks; Proficient in commonly used office software and project collaboration tools (such as Asana, Word, Excel, Google Docs); Prior experience in nonprofit organizations, international projects, or working within the labor rights field is preferred. Work Hours and Location Full-time or part-time (to be determined based on organizational needs); Location: Millburn, New Jersey – on-site work required; Standard work hours: 40 hours per week.
