Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and mentor a team of talented engineers. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for guiding technical execution, ensuring the team is aligned with project goals, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. This role will focus on both people management and technical leadership, helping to balance team growth with delivering high-quality engineering solutions. Experience in Vision AI and Visual Language Models (VLMs) is a strong plus.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & People Management
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team by setting clear goals, providing continuous feedback, and facilitating career development.
• Create an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and personal growth, ensuring team members are motivated and productive.
• Manage resource allocation to ensure engineering projects are adequately staffed and aligned with business priorities.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and identify opportunities for professional development for team members.
• Foster a culture of accountability and ownership by empowering team members to take responsibility for their work.
Project & Technical Leadership
• Oversee the technical execution of engineering projects, ensuring high-quality delivery on time and within scope.
• Work closely with Product Managers and other cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives and product requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the team, helping solve complex problems and ensure technical excellence in code quality, performance, and scalability.
• Drive continuous improvements in development processes, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum) to enhance efficiency and product quality.
• Review and approve engineering designs, code, and architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Communication
• Collaborate with the CTO and other senior leadership to define and execute the technical vision and strategy.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders across departments (e.g., Product, Operations, Sales) to understand requirements and ensure timely delivery of technical solutions.
• Act as a liaison between engineering and other teams to address dependencies, resolve conflicts, and ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
•5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
• Strong technical background with experience in building and maintaining scalable, high-performance systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and align cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies and hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
• Familiarity with relevant software development technologies (e.g., Python, JavaScript, cloud platforms, containerization) and software engineering best practices.
Preferred:
• Experience in Vision AI or Visual Language Models (VLMs) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of on-premises deployments or cloud architecture.
• Background in AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.
• Familiarity with designing and deploying scalable AI systems for applications in smart cities, factories, or other industrial domains.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (Product, Sales, Marketing).
